A few months ago, I wrote an article for “SAABberichten” (the official magazine of the Dutch SAAB Club) called “Close to Perfection“. It described the many different steps I had taken to enhance and preserve my car since I acquired it in December 2012, ranging from rust protection to new Edge rims and a complete makeover from Vector to Aero trim. Close to perfection indeed but could it get any better?
Well, the answer is yes!
While I was really very pleased with the results of the transformation to Aero trim, my feeling was that the car wasn’t finished yet, so a few weeks ago I arrived in Kiel again to have some more work done and to get “Snow White” even closer to perfection.
This time, the Aero trim was to be extended with some Hirsch touches: a rear diffuser and exhaust system, side skirts and front spoiler, complemented with spacers and a lowering set from Eibach and inside, Aero pedals.
When I picked the car up, it felt like it had morphed into a completely new car, almost as if it had “grown up”. The new body kit creates a new look (possibly some resemblance of how a “9-5X” could have looked like, especially with the rear diffuser) and the new springs combined with the upgraded exhaust give it a roaring sensation!
The staff in Kiel did an outstanding job (again!) and I keep on being positively surprised by their professionalism, attention for detail and unrivalled passion for SAAB. With all these great enhancements, is the car perfect now?
Well, almost… Side collision warning, GPS, back camera and motorized tailgate are surely still on the wish list, but for that to happen we need support from Orio to do the necessary software modifications. While they assisted earlier with other MY12 cars, this service was suspended and for unknown reasons still on hold.
Well, I guess the thing to in the mean time is to really enjoy the car in its current amazing form, which is what I’ll be doing 🙂
