Always wanted to own a Saab 9-5NG SportCombi? Now is your chance!
A Fjord Blue (the only one in this colour) Aero equipped with the 220HP 2.0T BioPower engine with about 35,000 km on the odometer is now for sale in Germany. Asking price €75,000 (€87,700 / £66,000 / SEK 773,000).
USA-specs but EU road legal
This car with VIN number YS3GR5AR8C9000013 was built in 2011 in the prototype assembly plant “Frickeboa” on the Saab factory grounds in Trollhättan. Fitted with the characteristic rear door for the North American market, this SportCombi is built with USA specifications but that didn’t prevent the owner Michael Reichhold to get it road-legal in Germany. It was in fact the very first 9-5NG SportCombi that received a permanent registration following the sale of several of these cars at the bankruptcy auctions in 2012 and 2013.
Extra well equipped
In addition to the usual accessories that came with the top-of-the-line Aero trim, this car features several extras including ventilated front seats, automatic gearbox, heads-up-display (HUD) and the Harman Kardon sound system. The current owner -a certified Saab mechanic- also fitted a EU-spec radio system, Hirsch stainless exhaust, carbon MY12 dashboard panels, leather steering wheel, 19 inch rims and Brembo font breaks. On top of that, the car comes with some extras: several original spare parts for the rear end (including rear lamps US version, all rear windows, a rear aero bumper, a roof spoiler in Fjord Blue, trunk door incl US cover; according to Michael, a value of around €15K). And if you were wondering…other spare parts are widely available through Orio (aka Saab Parts), as the SportCombi is virtually identical to its sibling, the 9-5NG Sedan.
Please contact the seller directly if you’re interested. Michael can be reached at email@example.com
More information and pictures are available on his website saab-mechanicus.de, in the post “Born from Jets” on this site and the entry for “Nr13” in the SportCombi Directory.
The car will be participating in the “Pilots Wanted” event so if you want to see it in real life (together with several other Saab 9-5NG SportCombis, 9-5NG Sedans and 9-4X’s), you should be heading over to Kiel, Germany on 8-9 June!
**UPDATE 3 JUNE 2018**
The car has now been sold and will be returning to Sweden! More details to follow in due course.
